I have a particular affinity toward moleskins, Nietzsche, and fountain pens. I also enjoy cappuccinos, The Economist, dancing, B&W photography, Kafka, electronic music, philosophy, kickbox, Paulo Coelho, black (color), and politics. And of course, blogging. That's where BohemianTranscendence comes in: this blog is not only the recount of personal experiences, emotions, and thoughts, but also an exploration of the passion hidden behind our desire for life.

Good morning everyone! And Happy Halloween!

I guess I had to wake up at 5 a.m. on a Halloween morning to break the two weeks of silence. Perhaps I should stop writing drafts and start pushing that “Publish” button more often. Still, there are several reasons I didn’t update the blog any earlier.

To begin with, believe it or not, I actually have a strict quality control over the content I decide to post online. And, certain weeks, I’m more… [Read more.]

After several days of hot summer in San Fran, chilly weather is back. And I like it.
Particularly on mornings like today’s, when I’m out at 6 a.m., running toward my YMCA to go spinning.

Yes, I’ve been using quite well my new YMCA membership so far. Perhaps a bit too well. Running to the facility almost every work day for a group class – yoga, spinning, … – and then back home, on top of the weekend workouts… [Read more.]

A short hike on a sunny, but not too hot day.
An amazingly tasty brunch accompanied by a lively conversation. (Highly recommended: the Tuscany savory crepe at Crepevine in Palo Alto.)

First, I’ll start off with the disappointing news. As you must have noticed from some of my last posts, I adore Ludovico Einaudi’s music. I was therefore really excited when I learnt that he’d be having a concert in San Francisco. Unfortunately, I was too… [Read more.]

Updates on the San Jose R&R Half-Marathon (Part 2)

Three days have passed since the race and, emotions aside, it’s time for some more objective thoughts on the event. Here’s what I liked and what I didn’t like about it.

Likes:

  • Encouragement. Apart from the rock bands, there were multiple cheering groups along the way. Not to mention the San Jose people, many of which were out on their patios and balconies to applaud us. Some had their own posters, others were jokingly offering us free bacon. A… [Read more.]

Updates on the San Jose R&R Half-Marathon (Part 1)

This post was written right after my half-marathon, on Sunday afternoon. I didn’t have time to read through it again until today, which is why I’m publishing it now.

While on the Caltrain, going back home to San Fran, I must have reworked the beginning of this post about a dozen times. As soon as I got a sentence down, I would erase it. Yes, there’s really no easy to express certain things. Today, I’m having a… [Read more.]
