I have a particular affinity toward moleskins, Nietzsche, and fountain pens. I also enjoy cappuccinos, The Economist, dancing, B&W photography, Kafka, electronic music, philosophy, kickbox, Paulo Coelho, black (color), and politics. And of course, blogging. That's where BohemianTranscendence comes in: this blog is not only the recount of personal experiences, emotions, and thoughts, but also an exploration of the passion hidden behind our desire for life.

Busy weekends & San Francisco Street Food Festival

The Saturday busyness I’ve mentioned in my previous post continues.  This weekend , the “culprit” was the San Francisco Street Food Festival.

I found out about the existence of this event completely randomly after reading, just as randomly, several posts on Jun Belen’s blog, including one about his experience at the 2009 edition of the festival. I then immediately searched for the date on which the festival would take… [Read more.]

Noces de coton

For the past six weeks, every single weekend has been one filled with some sort of activity. There has been the half-marathon, the birthday party, the other social events… And even our first San Francisco picnic in Dolores Park, where we met with friends on the first Saturday of this month. What was peculiar about this picnic is that, apart from the regular fun around good food and good friends, some of us (no need to cite names here) used… [Read more.]

Thursday morning chillin’

And not just because it’s chilly in San Fran today ;)

There are days with a rough start and an even rougher end. Sometimes, those days can be tied together, one after another, in the very beginning of your week, even after an amazing weekend of celebration. But like any other bad experience, those days vanish at some point, only to be replaced by renewed balance and tranquility, as well as greater mental strength.

I’d like my yogurt in a cup, please.

Yogurt is sexy.

Especially when served in a “Museum of Sex NYC” cup: the contrast between the pure, white yogurt and the profoundly black ceramic can only increase your hunger.

Cup full of yogurt...

So sexy in fact, I was in too much of a hurry to eat my yogurt this morning to take decent pictures.

Empty yogurt cup... [Read more.]

San Francisco half-marathon update

It’s been almost three weeks since the San Francisco half-marathon I ran on Sunday, July 25th. And here I am, finally getting to finish the post I began writing shortly after it.

This, my friends, is the promised update on my performance at that wonderful race.

Let me begin by saying that, if you are not familiar with San Francisco and if a local tells you about anything being “flat”, you should take his or her words with extreme caution…. [Read more.]

Showing up

Today’s morning was one of those which make you want to go straight back to bed.

After training twice on Monday and pushing through a challenging workout yesterday, the first thought which entered my awakening consciousness was: “I don’t want to run to the gym. Actually, scratch that. I don’t want to go workout at all.”

Of course, my aching body knew this was not an option for my stubborn mind… not until I discovered that, somehow, during the night,… [Read more.]

Grocery runs

Having a life full of events gives you something to blog about. But it is also tiring, and, usually, by the time you get to sit in front of your keyboard, you have so many things to write about, you end up writing about none. Welcome to the dreadful cycle of post procrastination.

In an effort to save myself and my blog from this undesirable fate, I’ve decided to do a quick post on my week so far. I know,… [Read more.]
